"New technology, new incentives:
The role of biotechnology in global health "

An informal discussion with

Dr. Christopher D. Earl

President and CEO
BIO Ventures for Global Health

Tuesday April 10, 2007
6 to 7:30 p.m.

The nonprofit BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) enables biotech companies to develop innovative medicines for neglected diseases of the developing world. Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation and leading biotech companies, it helps companies both break down perceived business barriers associated with emerging markets and recognize the potential represented by the growing international purchasing power for new medicines. Dr. Christopher D. Earl, President and CEO of BVGH, will discuss how the organization is helping biotechnology companies take advantage of the opportunities in the developing world created by the concurrent emergence of factors such as new drug development technologies, market development in developing countries and the recent surge in public and private funding for R&D, procurement and distribution.

Dr. Earl previously served as Managing Director of the Perseus-Soros BioPharmaceutical Fund, L.P., a leading investor in later-stage life science companies, where he managed investments in biopharmaceutical companies and served as a director on portfolio company boards.
